How much money can my organization raise?
We pay by the pound for the shoes. The price we pay depends on how many shoes we can pick up at a time and how the distance from our pick collection hubs. Because of transportation costs, we have a donation minimum of 1,000 lbs. Don't worry though, that's not as much as you might think!
If you are a high school with 1500 students, for example, you should easily collect 4-6,000 lbs of shoes in a four week shoe drive. Some do a lot more. Some really excited Boy Scout troops have collected as much as 40,000 lbs of shoe resulting in a profit to them of $16,000!
Obviously, the more shoes you collect, the more money you can make. Our base price is 40¢ per pound of acceptable shoes (A typical pair of shoes weighs roughly one pound).
We have two processing hubs – St. Louis and Salt Lake City. If you are within 100 miles of either of these cities (blue zone), we'll pay 40¢ per pair of shoes. Maybe more!
If you're between 100 and 500 miles (green zone), you'll receive at least 30¢ per pound.
Please call us if you're in the yellow zone. The price in these areas can vary depending on the amount of shoes you collect. For example, if you collect over 20,000 lbs (which isn't hard to do) our price goes up to 12-20¢ per pound!
